About CSM Hong Kong

CSM Media Research is a joint venture between CTR Market Research (the leading market research company in China ) and the TNS Group. Dedicated to TV & radio audience measurement research, CSM Media Research offers reliable and uninterrupted rating information for Hong Kong SAR and China . As the ¡°currency¡± of the TV, radio broadcasting & advertising trade. CSM Media Research operates the world's largest TV & radio audience measurement panel, covering China 's 1.2 billion TV populations (including the Hong Kong SAR's 6.4 million TV & radio audience). This operation therefore covers 228 individual markets (comprising the national entity, 26 provinces and 201 cites including the Hong Kong SAR), with some 54,000 homes and 178,800 panelists participating in the measurement of over 1,336 main channels and 398 radio frequencies , every day of the year.
After the HKTAM Founding Subscribers, namely ATV, TVB and HK4As awarded CSM with the 5-year Hong Kong TAM contract in July 2005, CSM has completed all preparations, tests by the Founding Subscribers and provided ratings data in a parallel run period of 2 months with the existing service provider from November 1, 2005. The HKTAM Special Task Force (STF) after scrutinizing the data during the parallel run has decided to adopt the data provided by CSM as the preliminary TV ratings data in January 2006 and official TV ratings data in February 2006 onwards to be used as the ¡°only currency¡± for Hong Kong¡¯s TV broadcasting and advertising industries. Starting from January 1, 2006, CSM is the only company to provide TV ratings for the advertising industry in Hong Kong. CSM measures television audience viewing in 650 households, using the advanced TNS 5000 series PeopleMeter, a tried (?) and true, fully adaptable PeopleMeter which already measures digital TV in countries around the world. More than 17,000 households are already using the 5000 series PeopleMeter worldwide.
Since 1999, CSM has been the first and only TAM provider in China with ISO 9000 certification and most recently received its ISO 9001:2000 certification. Additionally as stipulated by the Founding Subscribers, CSM¡¯s service will be audited by an independent auditor in Hong Kong to guarantee the TAM service continuously meets industry standards
