Hong Kong Television Audience Measurement (HKTAM)

Fantastic TV, TVB, ViuTV and HK4As awarded six years contract (2018-2023) to CSM and Kantar Media.

The new service will deliver a single view of TV viewing across all devices. Through an independent, representative panel of 2,700 individuals from 1,000 households, the 25% increased sample will report ratings data for all TV viewing.

•    All viewing on the TV set including content transmitted over all existing and future terrestrial and non-terrestrial free TV, satellite and Pay TV channels, OTT Media Box, blu-ray and game consoles. This includes live, time-shift and catch-up services up to seven days using Kantar Media’s PeopleMeter technology.
•    All TV and video content that is streamed or accessed over the internet through tablets, smartphones, PC’s and connected devices. Kantar Media’s secure home router meter and on-device internet measurement technology will passively measure all viewing in and out of the home whilst comScore streaming tags will identify content and commercials.

CSM will calibrate panel data with the online census data for programmes and commercials using Kantar Media’s award-winning data integration techniques and comScore panel-informed census demographics to deliver granular audience data of the highest quality.
CSM has been active in audience measurement in Hong Kong since 2006.

Hong Kong TV Content Gold Standard

Hong Kong TV Content Gold Standard is a document designed to standardize all aspects relating to the HKTAM service, where data are sourced from the HKTAM service. The standard is intended for subscriber, applications software developer, the industry, HKTAM data users and the service provider to follow.

TV Audience Measurement Establishment Survey

CSM carries out the Establishment Survey in Hong Kong twice a year to provide the industry more information about TV and online viewing habits and demands of HK audience.

A random sample of addresses has been selected to participate in the survey. Selected households will be asked to participate in this meaningful survey. This survey will take about 15 minutes long to complete the questionnaire. For convenient identification, our interviewers must carry an Interviewer Identity Card and wear our uniform for conducting this interview.

Regarding the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, your information and data will be treated as strictly confidential and will not be released to any other parties. Such confidential data will only be used for compiling statistics, which will not enable information relating to individual persons or households to be revealed.
